On July 20-22, 2008, BIT's 1st Annual World Summit of Antivirals-2008 was held successfully in Kunming , China . During the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Kelly Wang on behalf of Dr, Xiaodan Mei, the Executive Chairman of this event delivered opening remarks to welcome all our participants.

Totally, there were nearly 300 participants from more than 30 countries and regions attended the WSA-2008. With a theme of “Combating Severe Viral Infections”, the conference consists of 19 sessions which are under 4 tracks including public health and basic sciences, antiviral drug discovery, diagnostic tests, commemorate symposium of HIV/AIDS. Scientists, industrial professionals and key-decision makers delivered the new achievement on their research, together discussed and analyzed the development of antiviral research. The conference provides an excellent platform for promoting the communications of colleagues and collaborations of partners from the upstream to the downstream of antiviral research.

After the main conference, more than thirty participants enjoyed the tech-tour to mysterious Lijiang & Shangri-la and promoted intellectual exchanges and collaborations under a kind of cheerful atmosphere along the trip.

According to the investigations after the conference, over 70% participants expressed that they would like to attend WSA-2009. Depending on the warmly support and good suggestions from all of the participants, we are confident in organizing WSA-2009 which would be better and more successful than WSA-2008.
