(1) Research on petroleum reservoir biocenology: survey on petroleum reservoir biology resource, constitution of biocoenosis, microbial biocenology and its features, petroleum microbial biology, etc.
(2)Research on microbial activation system, Strains Filtration and Microorganism Fermentation: Research on microbial nutritious, research and development on activation methods, timization of microorganism fermentation.
(3)Research of microbial metabolites and its mechanism include the nature of microbial metabolites, Segregation analysis of metabolites, Characteristics of which microbes effect on crude oil.
(4)The research on Simulation and evaluation of microbial oil recovery technology, such as, simulating reservoir conditions, studying the process and the role of microorganisms in reservoir porous media, evaluating the effect of microbial flooding, optimizing the injection-site process, providing the technical basis for the field test.
A number of national research projects were allocated in this laboratory, such as research project number 863, which is research on endogenous microbial enhanced oil recovery technology; project number 973, which is research on the basis of microbial enhanced oil recovery, key project from China Oil, which is microorganism flooding application of basic research; and the subject of international cooperation, which is research on activation of microorganism and the displacement mechanism.
