Welcome to WCG-2008
The 2nd Annual World Congress of Gene is a major congress which shares the revolutionary developments in life sciences since the discovery of the double helix and setting the stage for the advancement of biology and medicine in the 21st century. This congress will promote the Gene technology developments and collaborations world wide.
Exhibition
  Time: 09:00-17:00 Dec 5-8, 2008
To meet face-to-face with the international movers and shakers in the field of gene science and biotechnology
To meet with key decision marker around the world

To spotlight advanced technologies and their scientific and commercial applications
To take advantage of the conference's captive audience and networking opportunities within the exhibition hall

Conference Background
The 1st World Congress of Gene (WCG) is the most influential congress that BIT organized in the past four years. The aim of t is to follow up the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the publication of DNA double-helix structure in Nature from April 25, 1953 by Dr. James Watson and Dr. Francis Crick. In 2003, US Congress designated April 25 of every year as National DNA Day and the whole April as Genome Month. National DNA Day has provided a significant occasion for young generations to learn genetics.

For such a purpose, BIT sponsored a new meeting platform creation; WCG has received broad support from those world leading research institutes. With many leading scientists involved in such operation, and those institutions already actively involved in DNA Day celebration in the past .....
DNA Discovery: Important Events
  • 1865 - Mendel's Laws of Heredity presented.
  • 1905-1908 - Bateson and Punnett showed that genes modify action of other genes.
  • 1953 - Watson and Crick proposed double-stranded, helical, complementary, anti-parallel model for DNA.
  • 1973 - First human-gene mapping conference held.
  • 2000 - Working draft of human genome sequence completed.
  • 2003 - Celebrated 50 years of DNA's double helix.
