Forensic science has attracted enormous attentions through high profile trials and impacts on several aspects of policing and the criminal justice system. Therefore, we establish this focused event to bring together forensic medicine experts, toxicologists, forensic scientists and other experts primarily working in the field of forensic medicine, toxicology, forensic pathology, forensic science, criminology, forensic psychiatry and other allied subjects and demonstrate the advances in the field of forensic science. Through this special platform, we hope to showcase technologies and products which have practical applications in forensic science and move the forensic R & D forward.
Event Report
On Oct 21-23, 2010, BIT's 1st Annual World Congress of Forensics (WCF-2010) was held successfully in Dalian, China. During the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Like Wang, Deputy Mayor, Dalian Government; Chief of Dalian Public Security Bureau, China; Honorary President, the Police Association of Dalian, China delivered opening remarks and speech to all our participants.
As the keynote speakers, Dr. Gerry LaPorte, Forensic Policy Program Manager and Acting Associate Director of the Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences, National Institute of Justice (NIJ), USA; Dr. Geoffrey Stewart Morrison, Director, Forensic Voice Comparison Laboratory, School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications, University of New South Wales, Australia; Dr. Keming Yun, Professor, Member of FCSS, Assistant Dean of Forensic Medicine School of Shanxi Medical University, China; Dr. Henry C. Lee, Chief Emeritus for Scientific Services, University of New Haven, USA made excellent presentations and warmly discussed with the audiences at keynote forum.
Totally, there were more than 300 participants from more than 22 countries and areas have attended the WCF-2010. Participants from academic, industrial professionals and key-decision makers delivered the new achievement on their research, together discussed and analysis the development of forensic science. WCF-2010 made a great contribution to the justice by emphasizing the importance of forensics. This conference will discuss Molecular Forensics and Emerging Technologies, Bio-Forensics, Physical & Chemical Forensics, e-Forensics, Mass and Natural Disasters and Forensic Sciences in Crime Investigation with professionals from different countries and regions.
Depending on the warmly support and good suggestions from all of the participants, we are confident in organizing WCF-2011 which would be better and more successful than WCF-2010.
