PepCon-2008

Hosted by China Medicinal Biotech Association and organized by BIT Life Sciences, Inc. the 1st Annual Protein and Peptide Conference (PepCon-2008), held in Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from April 22-24, 2008 was a great success. The theme of the conference was “From Concept to Market.” Many honored guests presented during the opening ceremony including: Dr. Harold A. Scheraga, eminent leader in protein folding, Dr. Marc Wilkins, who has defined the concept of the proteome and coined the term, Dr. David K. Robinson, Vice President, Bioprocess R&D, Merck Research Laboratories, Merck & Co., Inc., USA and Dr. Thomas Li, Head of Asia Pacific Technology Management, Roche Diagnostics Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., USA. Nearly 500 world-renowned experts, professors, laboratory principals, project leaders and representatives of well known organizations from31? countries attended the ceremony.

There were 24 sessions following the ceremony covering many fields including: Proteomics, Human Proteome Project, Bioinformatics, Protein Structure and Interaction, Biomarkers, Protein and Peptide Drug Discovery, Vaccine and Antibody, Investing and Financing, Outsourcing and Business Cooperation, etc.

At the same time, the New Product & Technology Exhibition attracted many international instrument companies, peptide synthesis companies, out sourcing companies and database software companies.

This annual conference provided a splendid platform for domestic researchers to communicate with international experts. It also offered excellent opportunities for domestic organizations and institutes to seek cooperations. It promoted international exchanges and enhanced scientific development in protein and peptide sciences and pushed forward the development of relevant scientific fields worldwide. It also made an important contribution to the human proteome project.

Overall, this conference bears the following characteristics:

First, PepCon-2008 focused on protein and peptide research areas which led its way to be a professional conference covering most popular topics.

Second, PepCon-2008 attracted international experts and professors from 31 countries to attend actively and contribute greatly which made it an impressive and influential conference.

Third, all presented at the conference are distinctive representatives and experts in protein and peptide from both academia and industry.

Fourth, PepCon-2008 attracted great interest of corporations, both domestic and internal, to participate in the conference actively.

PepCon-2009

BIT Life Sciences 2nd Annual Protein and Peptide Congress (PepCon-2009), held in the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul, South Korea from April 2-4, 2009 was an overwhelming success. The theme of the conference was “Life, Knowledge & Bio-Economy.” Many honored guests presented at the opening ceremony including: Dr. Kyung-Soo Hahm, Professor, Cellular and Molecular Medicine, College of Medicine, Research Center for Proteineous Materials, Chosun University; President of the Korean Peptide Protein Society, South Korea; Dr. Young-Ki Palk, President. HUPO and AOHUPO, Director of Yonsei Proteome Research Center/Biomedical Proteome Research Center, Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea; Dr. Gregg B. Fields, Robert A. Welch Foundation Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, Department of Biochemistry, The University of Texas Health Science Center; President Elect of American Peptide Society (APS), USA; Dr. Han-Oh Park, CEO & President, Bioneer Corp., South Korea; Dr. Thomas Seewoester, Director, Process Development, Amgen Inc., USA. More than 200 world renowned experts, professors, laboratory principals, project leaders and representatives of well known organizations attended the conference.

There were 5 tracks including over 20 sessions following the Opening Ceremony covering topics in fields including: Human Proteome Technologies, Protein Sciences and Technology, Protein Therapeutics Discovery and Development, Bioengineering or Bioprocessing: Protein Downstream Technologies, Peptide Structure and Functions and Therapeutic Designs, etc. Meanwhile, the congress was also supported by Bioneer Corp, from South Korea and attracted many exhibitors such as Bachem AG, Switzerland; GENEART AG, Germany; Beijing Scilight Biotechnology, Chine; vivoPharm Pty Ltd, Australia; Young-IN Scientific.co., Ltd., Korea & Young in Frontier, Korea; Kyongshin Scientific Co., Ltd., Korea, etc.

This annual conference which brought together more than 200 specialists from 26 countries was devoted to the leading issues and hottest topics in protein and peptide science from around the world. The meeting also provided a splendid informative platform for domestic researchers to communicate with international experts and pushed forward protein and peptide development.

According to research after the conference, over 70% of participants expressed interest in attending PepCon-2010. With the strong support and suggestions from the participants we are confident that PepCon-2010 in Beijing, China will be more successful that PepCon-2009.

PepCon-2010

BIT’s 3rd Annual Protein and Peptide Conference was held successfully form March 21-23, 2010 in the Beijing International Convention Center, China. The theme of the conference was “After a Solution for the Machines of Life.” Over 600 participants from more than 30 countries attended the 3 day conference.
Mr. Liu Hailin, Deputy Director-General of China Medicinal Biotech Association and Ms. Kelly Wang, CEO of BIT Life Sciences delivered the welcome remark at the opening ceremony. Dr. Gilbert Omenn, Professor, University of Michigan, Leader of Human Plasma Proteome Project (HPPP), USA; Dr. A. Keith Dunker, T-K Li Professor of Medical Research, Indiana University, Founder/Father of The Protein Trinity, USA; Dr. Kazutoshi Mori, Professor, Department of Biophysics, Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University, Japan; Dr. Walter Neupert, Chairman of the EMBO Council, Professor, University of Munich, Germany gave wonderful presentation at the keynote forum. Ms. Catherine TARRADE, New Products Marketing Coordinator, Abcam plc, UK and Mr. Mingxue sun, President of Xi’an Guo Cui Bio-peptide Co., Ltd, CHian also presented at the conference as sponsor representatives.
The conference had 3 parts. The Keynote Forum, over 80 parallel scientific and technological sessions, and the exhibition and poster showcase. The topics covered included Basic Protein Science, Protein Technologies, Protein and Diseases to Protein Engineering and Production. The conference provided professionals the opportunity to discuss current trends and the business model for protein and peptide sciences. After the conference many participants expressed their satisfaction with the content of the congress and had fond memories of Beijing. We believe that with your support and suggestions the next conference will be even better.
