Guilin guide

Congress Dates: December 1-5, 2008. Sanshui Garden Hotel, Foshan, China
Exhibition Dates: December 1-3, 2008. Sanshui Garden Hotel, Foshan, China

Guilin is regarded as the most picturesque city in China. Two crystal-clear rivers meander through the city, which are encircled by hills with unusual & bizarre rock formations and caves inside.
Two crusted movements of earth took place about 200 and 180 million years age thrusting the limestone sediments out of the sea bottom. They were forced upwards more than 200 meters to the surface. This Karst formation was molded through many years of erosion by the wind and rain to become the hills and rocks with bizarre shapes. There are numerous complete Karst(limestone sites), which are of high scientific value and tour value.
Guilin is named after the fragrance of osmanthus tree and saw its first inhabitants in Qin Dynasty over 2000 years ago. Guilin experienced a prosperous period during Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty under the patronage from succeeding Emperors.

Situated at the foot of Guangming Hill in northeastern Guiln, Reed Flute Cave got its name from the kind of reed growing immediately outside the cave entrance, which is used to make fine flutes.
Fubo Hill

Fubo Hill stands solitarily by the Li River in downtown Guilin. A climb to the top of the hill offers visitors an extensive view of some charming scenery, including the sunrise over Yao Hill with Zizhou Islet enshrouded in the mist and Old Man Hill in the distance.
Longsheng Hot Springs

Longsheng Hot Springs, reputed as "a heaven of peace and happiness" and a "paradise on earth," is the centerpiece of the national park. Welling out from cracks in the rocks halfway up the mountain, the hot spring water is colorless, tasteless, pure and clear.
