Kunming |

Located in the middle of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Kunming is renowned as the City of Eternal Spring. It has an elevation of 1,891 meters with mountains surrounding it at three sides and the Dianchi Lake bordering on its south. It boasts pleasant climate all the year round and ample sunshine and rainfall, turning plants green and flowers in bloom in all seasons. Kunming is a historically and culturally famous city of China, the provincial capital and the centre of politics, economy, culture, science, technology and communications of Yunnan. |

Lijiang |

| The Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County, another historically and culturally famous town in China, lies 199 kilometres away in the northwest of Dali. |

Baisha Murals: Lijiang's murals are works of the Ming Dynasty, chiefly created from the Hongwu to the Wanli eras. They were originally distributed among the Juexiansi Temple and twelve others, nine of which fell to ruins. The remaining four temples have altogether 55 murals, with a total area of 139.22 sq. m. |

Naxi people: Naxi literature is rich in form and content. Besides works by Naxi scholars and writers, there is a repository of oral folk literature. |

The much famed mountain is situated some 15 km. north of Lijiang County, with thirteen peaks resembling jade pillars holding the sky, it stands majestically on the east side of the Jinshajiang River. The main peak, Mount Fan (Shanzifeng), is 5,596 m. above sea level, and is annually snowcapped. |

Dali, a historically and culturally famous city of China, is renowned for her historical interest. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, it was the capital of Nanzhao and Dali Kingdoms, the political, economic and cultural centre of Yunnan, an important gateway of cultural exchange and trading with southeastern Asian countries, and an important pass of the ancient "Silk Route of the South". It has long enjoyed the reputation of "a land of letters". |
